Hi all,
I've been reading like mad for the past week! I'm soon to be tiling my bathroom floor and walls, and have been using all your great tips. It's been a fab way to know what to check and ask - also BAL technical helpline has been very useful! Last thing I think I need to decide is what to do about edges - we're tiling round the bath and doing the window ledge. I hate plastic trim (I see there is mixed opinion on this!) - is it a bad idea to go for the "no trim, grout instead" option? I am expecting a baby in 3 weeks so don't have time to hang about making final decisions!!

Hi mum-to be and welcome to TF, if you don't like trims you can overlap or mitre your tiles, (hope that was a quick enough answer!):lol: :welcome:

What about metal trim ?
Its either that or mitre the edges which is a long job and can create sharp edges.
What tiles will you be using?

Hi and welcome..... if you don't like plastic, you could go with satin or polished chrome!

I won't have any outside corners to deal with - isn't that where I would mitre? Same with overlap? Can I just have bare tile edges (with some grout on perhaps) at the front edge of window ledge, and at the two vertical edges of the bath? Does the trim protect the tile, and if so, is it likely to get damaged if it is bare?

Satin and Polished Chrome flat edge look a lot better for modern tiles these days than quadrant

Course they will :smilewinkgrin: ....... if you have to go back to the tile shop get the "assistant" to set the tile on a length of trim - you'll be surprised

You may get away with around the bath if you are not tiling any external angles. You could grout the edge and use paint same colour as the wall to blend in. Or even just grout its your house.
I do feel you will need something on the cill though.

Don't metal ones look a bit too shiny? Can imagine them in a kitchen more than bathroom...

I have alarming moments, of suddenly realising she is weilding a hammer and chisel!! The pair of us would look a scary sight to you pros!!
