We have just finished tiling our bathroom floor, only to find that the grout on one row of the tiles has cracked and the tiles have lifted. Does anyone know any reasons for this happening? Obviously we are going to have to re do row but want to prevent it from occuring again.😕

You'll have to excuse me as im writing on behalf of my husband so i dont know very much! All i know is that the floor had been tiled when we first moved in but we didnt like the tiles so removed them and retiled. My husband just used bathroom floor tile adhesive, we did wonder if it was the adhesive but cant understand why all the rest are fine!

you may have left the adhesive down too long before puting the tiles inplace so the tiles have not griped to the adhesive

if you used standard adhesive you may have got away with it on the majority of the tiles down to the fact that there is little or no movement in that area the problem area is most likely down to movement in the surface beneath the tiles in question .

the tiles that have moved are the ones that wouldnt get walked on very much at all, would we just retile these ones and would we do anything different when we re do them?

Was the floor overlayed with plywood before being tiled upon or were the tiles fitted directly to the floorboards? The answer to this will help determine the problem, also if you could post exactly which adhesive you used.

Yea as all the lads say its all gonna depend on the flooring beneath the tiles. Try to find out exactly what it is before trying to do any patch up work or you may find you have the same problem.
