Nomoreply - which adhesive & screws?!?!?!?

If the weyroc runs one way generally the nomoreply are run at right angles. the joints on the nomoreply are glued with Mega adhesive. If you wish I can send you a sample. Mega is actually a Marine glue water and seawater proof. It is like a weld. The designer gives a 10 year guarantee on this NMP system - obviously with the waiver that fixing method is followed.

I applaud your scepticism, but don't knock it till you have tried it:yes:

Its not that I a sceptical its just not the way I am taught.

If you board a ceiling or a floor you cross joints, lay one way then the other so there is no transfer of weakness. By doing this with ply say in a 5m2 bathroom you are faced maybe with 2 joints where as with a substrate board there are at least double that so surely the floor has more weak points.

Are you saying then that the glue will fix these boards so they effectively become one sheet and in doing so presumably waterproof ??

So, will Nomoreply give the same rigidity that 18mm ply would on the floor?

No it is flexible so works as a top skin which still requires support it seems

so, basically if i had a floor that required boarding i would use 18mm ply then over the top stick nomoreply... would i need to supply a stepladder so the customer could get over the step to get in the room that putting 18mm ply and 6mm nomoreply would cause....

It is strange it is called "No More Ply" when it doesn't add strength and implies you can do away with the ply altogether.

NoMorePly does make the floor more rigid – sticking Nomoreply using Mega glue is like when you laminate a surface you make it more rigid (exactly why plywood is as strong as it is). But also with the glue being as flexible (and as strong) as it is, it effectively decouples the floor.

With Nomoreply being made from cement fibre composition it is dimensionally very stable (unlike plywood). As distributor we have sold thousands of sheets, I have not had a single problem with it. As with all products /systems it is important manufacturers guidelines are followed, and common sense is used, the floor should be in good order, and any loose boards made good, if the floor is springing other remedial work may be necessary prior to the laying of the NoMorePly.

BBA (British Board of Agreement) certification is a few weeks away, this is a lengthy process, but I feel an important one - the product has been fully tested and evaluated, and I know some senior TTA members have been involved and produced reports on this system.

As you say at the end of every post "Opinions are given in good faith but manufacturers have the last word, their guidelines must be followed"

I have always followed the Manufacturers Guidlines - all my customers who include Councils, hospitals, developers, Tilers who have tried the product keep coming back.

I am currently evaluating Aquamix with a view to distributing it, Ian Taylor kindly came to see me, sampled me up and we are now trying the product. Its difficult for me as I am a dyed in the wool Lithofin User/Stockist - my gut instinct is that water based sealants don't work - but they clearly work well, so I have to be open minded and adjust my mindset

Just for clarification then, are you saying that you can use No More Ply in situations where 18mm WBP ply would normally by used to add strength to a floor and reduce deflection to acceptable levels?

Again

Can you reply to this please ??/

if the floor is springing other remedial work may be necessary prior to the laying of the NoMorePly.?????

Grumpy Grouters - Yes it does

Wetdec - Yes the sheets do effectively become like one sheet. The joints would be waterproof, the Nomoreply is unaffected by water ingress. If we are using NoMorePly with the Kaskade wetroom tray - we follow manufacturers guidelines re: two coats of SBR (to waterproof) and we tape the joints. Bathroom floor we usually treat the same way (prime & tape)

Robbo - If the floor was springing excessively and thought it was too much movement for Plywood - it would be too much movement for NoMorePly - i.e floor joists shrunk and moving in their sockets, I would try get access to pack joist ends with slate.

Thanks for that. Why can't I get it up here then?
