overcharging in the credit crunch????

got a phone call last week off a friend of mine whos mother in law was about to get her bathroom tiled by some guy who was apparently a relative.. he was gunna replace the shower tray and tile the bathroom 13m2 labour only as the customer was supplying all the materials. he asked me how much i would charge and i told him for a friend £100 a day it would take me 2-3 days to tile as other guy had already installed shower tray which took him half a day.. he said guess how much this other guy tried too charge...£1500!!!! fuff i said and hes family. could not beleive it....i think some people are over charging in the credit crunch too compensate for the times when they are not workin does anyone agree?? or are they just takin the p

Because he's family did he think he would get the job, that is an abuse of priviledge or yes he's taking the p***:yikes:
 
I think that's cheap... Oh wait I read it wrong... surely you mean 130m2 for that money:yikes:
 
seriously..just for the tiling he wanted £500 plus £125 a day on top of that each for him and his m8 who was a labourer...
 
theres a guy up my way trying to charge £300 for your average 3/4m2 splashback,managed to get a few jobs he's lost cause of his prices!
there's 2 ways people are tending to go in this climate,either working for buttons or charging a fortune and neither are benefiting anyone:thumbsdown:(well maybe the customers who get it done on the cheap)

yeah ive just kept my prices the same, which are fair without ripping people off but enough for me to make a decent living coz i dont see the point of lowering or highering my prices just because other people are. i always like to be consistent with my pricing because word of mouth customers know were they stand with me.
 
I've been charging the same for 3.5 years now! does no harm when you aint ripping people off.
