Painted concrete floor to tile - how do I prepare?

Tilers Forums Official Sponsors

I've got a fairly small area to tile approx. 15 sq.m. The floor is concrete but has been painted with what looks like a gloss paint - could be a specialised floor paint. The tiles going down are porcelain 617x617mm.

Questions I have are (a) do I need to remove paint or prepare it in some way and (b) what is best tile adhesive and (c) what size notch trowel would be appropriate. Any professional input would be gratefully received.

I'd remove all the paint it's probably easiest to use a cup grinder and vacuum cleaner but u could just tape the doors to the house and wear a mask and go at it with just a grinder in a cloud of dust maybe a fan to help blow the dust away

Then prime the floor with a specific tile primer either acrylic or sbr based then a cement based adhesive with either a 10mm or 12mm notch trowel back buttering the tile with the flat side also look up sal diblasi on YouTube he's a top guy and demonstrates good practice
