PC Help limited connectivity ????

Hi for some reason cant seem to connect to internet.
windows vista connected to router strong signal but cant get access to internet. passwords correct and when you click on the router name it says limited connection.
Can anyone help is there a setting i need to change? any ideas?

Can happen a lot with Vista. Re-starting your computer should clear it.

if not try and put in the network key( for sky it's sky123456 etc) on the side if the router when you click on the connection options

Try contacting your provider.. might just be a router configuration issue.. i had one with mine and they sorted it in seconds.. worth a try before you do other things that do not need to be done.

I cant understand it because the lappy im on now is fine threw this router. its my lads pc that wont connect but it was fine. I have tried restarting comp and router. and have checked the settings against this lappy that is working and they are the same. this is doing my head in :mad2:

Wired or wireless ? if you right click on the network icon and see status there should / might be a repair option

it is wireless have tried that m8 and it just keeps going and going and nothing comes back its as if it cant detect it but yet it says its connected but with limited connectivity..

It has just come back from the shop and has had some bugs removed:smilewinkgrin: and an anti malware thing installed to remove what ever they removed. they had it connected to the internet in the shop but i cant get it to work :mad2:

for about 2 years hubby couldn't get the Wii connected to our wireless router. eventually he found out that the wireless router has lots of different channels (like a TV) and you have to be on the correct channel to get everything you want. so, we changed the router channel and now the Wii connects easily, the lappy connects easily and now I can even use MSN messenger again

could it be a channel problem steve?

It seems that it's connected to the network but not the internet ... try turning off the pc / laptop and modem and router, switch on the modem, wait for lights to go static, then the same with the router, then try switching the laptop on.

I dont know im not clued up with this gear all i know is that its an aol package i got, and it was fine before
and then the lappy started crashing and you couldnt get it turned on so took it to the shop now everything else seems to be fine apart from not connecting to the internet.

I've got some problem going on at the moment and it's something to do with the IP address needs reconfiguring but don't know how to do that yet

Go into DOS mode and type ipconfig

Don't ask me what that means, a 'techie' mate once told me it would fix things :lol:
