Plasplugs Contractor Plus or the smaller Pro Plus/DWW082 Compact Wet Tile Cutter

I have just bought the Plasplugs Contractor Plus as my 1st wet cutter. It's a huge machine and i've gotta feeling id be better off with a small Plasplugs Pro or DWW082. As i do more residential work, i dont own a van and im just starting off and do tiling as a side/hobby thing...

Then again i've read on the forums that tiles are getting bigger and customers prefer bigger tiles. The reason for me buying the contractor plus is coz i thought il only have to buy that once and it'l probably do most of the jobs.

Whats your opinion, Contractor Plus or the smaller Pro Plus/DWW082 Compact Tile Cutter ???

thnx

i have the small plasplug. Not the really small one the one up from that. Its qality. Does everything i need it to. I've used it on porcelain loads and never had a problem. I have a large bench saw for the bigger stuff but i rate the little plasplug for small domestic jobs.

Better to get the bigger one as it will have a more powerful motor to cope with natural stones as this can be repettitve cutting..

I have the baby one, compact plus, while it does well for average domestic use, I think I'll be looking at getting a Master plus when I start getting more jobs in.

Hi, Picked up a Plasplugs Compact plus today. It's just the thing for using inside. Been tiling a bathroom today and it has great for not having to run outside to use my Rubi ND200. It's rained most of the day today and never had to go out once 🙂 Jeff

MasterTiler for day to day stuff. The cheap £30 one for inside and splashbacks. Although it did porcelain floor tiles for me today as couldn't be bothered to get the MasterTiler out for a few cuts.

just a word of warning on the compact plus's. Normally these are fantastic for the money, and in the last 5 years i cant recall a return due to a fault. but in the last 2 months ive had 4 returned with the motors burnt out, so i would suggest checking with the plasplugs rep for your area that theyre back on form again. I've been assured that the faulty ones are out of production, and while im confident that the ones sent to me will be quality, as i spend thousands with them, i wouldn't put it past them to shift them onto smaller retailers/end users.

gonna give the contractor back and get compact plus...i only do domestic stuff at the mo and it seems ideal for inside small kitchen and bathrooms...thanks guys...

Just bear in mind the compact plus wont last long if you chuck grade 5 porcelain at it. Any repetative cuts on really hard tiles you want the master tiler for.
If your just cutting small bog standard ceramic wall tiles then the compact plus is brilliant.

hi m4ubs...keep the contractor and get the compact aswell then you have best of both worlds...

I've yet to buy my wet cutter was thinking of the contractor plus. I see you get 2 blades with it, a general one and a turbo blade. Which one do you use? are they both ok to use.

Turbo blade is great for ripping through stuff like slate. No good for porcelain/ceramic as it chips the glaze. General blade suitable for glazed.

sure its a master tiler? plasplugs sell them to retail outlets for more than that at theyre non offer prices.

got this wet cutter at topps cuts every thing🙂

I bought the contractor plus for tiling small kitchen this is my 1st time tiling do I add water into cutter?

You put water in the tray that's for water. It cools the blade to stop it expanding and splitting your tile.
