i do little bits like patching, although i did plaster my own kitchen but it looked like id had a plaster fight so wouldnt trust myself in a customers home yet. Will do a course in the future

Im happy to plaster a wall before i tile it (if needs be). I wouldnt do a finish coat for a wall to be painted though, dont trust myself.

I too can plaster/make good enough to tile on to, but wouldn't do it if a paint finish was required etc.....I know couple of good plasterers so its not worth me trying.... " leave it the guys that do it day in day out"...

Yeah same as most of the others here can plaster good enough to tile over, not a finishing coat. Plastering to a good finish is so much harder than it looks. Pi**ed me off when my dad plastered my house, makes it look so easy, wouldn't mind he isn't a plasterer.
Well worth putting your hand to a bit of plastering, if you get a job and it needs patching up then you are quids in.

I only started doing a bit of plastering for me tiling over when i couldnt get one of my regular guys to come and sort it. Means i can charge a few quid extra for the client not needing another tradesman in.

Trained as a decorator, Plastering for over 25 years, pebble dashing, rendering and screeding, Tiling for about 8 Years.

i was thinking of doing a course when ive got some dough, about 300 quid for 4 days, am sure it will help with the tiling and you can charge more

My brother in law is a pro plasterer and I have learnt from him. I can get a good finish but still takes me longer than a true pro. I only offer to patch plaster and prep walls for tiling as it's not worth the money v time until I improve.

Hopefully he's going self-employed this year so we can combine forces and take on the world!
