Why dont you fit insulation boards such as marmox then use schluters new ditra heat which is an excellent product and you dont need to self level.

I would advise the same, but feel it would be a lost cause as his builder has no idea about tiling and UFH it seems, let alone any ditra product! Hence why I said right at the start to get experts in!
