Porcelain tile care.........

Tilers Forums Official Sponsors

Hi All

I do have a query on a specific porcelain tile though and wondered if anyone could answer it for me.

We are tiling our bathroom in 2 types of Niro Granite porcelain tiles

Yura -
Glazed porcelain tile. Single fired, full colour bodied with water absorption of <0.1%.
Regal -
Unglazed, single fired, fully vitrified homogeneous tile with water absorption of <0.1%.

Has anyone used these products and would you know if we should seal them first?

We are also using magicbond flexible porcelain grout that has polymer in it to make it impervious, so Im guessing we dont need to seal the grout?

Any advice would be really appreciated.

Can't help with the sealing problem as I have not heard of the tiles you mention. if you have a box, contact the manufacturer and ask their advice. The glazed one won't need sealing.

As for you grout query, The only "waterproof" grouts that I know of are epoxy grouts. These are a 2 part mix. Grouts that use water to mix are not waterproof but they may have stuff to reduce the rate that which water is absorbed. As it is, the grout will dry out by evaporation if it gets wet. Swimming pools are grouted with cement based grouts.

It won't hurt to seal your grout if you want to.

Hi, I have just bought the infamous B & Q 60x60cm Porcelain tiles, yikes! How do I know whether or not they have this temporary wax that needs removing? What do people think of this sealant: Ultra Solv. I have read that its good. Also how many mls of this do you think you would need per sq metre?
Thanks
