Hi rollerman, welcome to TilersForums.

You have a multitude of problems with this idea.

1) fixing tiles to the worktop, this isn't a good idea as sometimes the laminate comes loose.
2) fixing with noo grout joint, 2 points, expansion and contraction of the substrate could lead to the tiles lifting, and from a health point, food bits would get stuck between the tiles, rule of thumb in a kitchen / food prep area would be an epoxy grout.
3) How would you finish the front edge off ?
4) I normally take the wax off before fixing.
5) I've never used and don't know anything about ultra clear waterproof sealant so can't comment.

If your adamant that you want a tiled worktop then there are ways to do it. Let us know if you do and we can suggest ways and means.

Re: Porcellian tiles

Hi
Thanks for your comments i can see that there has to be a grout joint now thanks the original worktops were installed before we moved in about 5yrs ago i believe who ever as done it has let the worktop into the wall by about 15mm and appears to be fasten at 6inch intervals with what looks like angle brackets the wall has been cement rendered to the top of the worktop and tiled on top i could see any way of getting the worktop out to change without destroying the walls an tiles the worktops are sound but colour loss here an there thats why thought of tiling it with these porcellian tiles
the front edge i was going to fix a batton to the worktop and paint or a friend suggested getting a stainless steel trim made to finish it off
