Potential earnings

How much does a qualified tiler charge per m2 for wall and floor tiling.I`m thinking about doing a tiling course at "siteskills" in johnstone renfrewshire.(has anyone heard of them? If so how good are they)& I was just wondering what my realistic potential earnings would be.

I think its very much job dependant and where you live. ie london rates £££. Im from NI and for a few builders who I know leave things pretty ready for me and use larger tiles then I just charge £20m2 for whatever needs doing. I loose a bit on the walls but make on the floors. For private work i start at £20 a m for floors and 25 to 35 for walls depending on what needs doing. Natural stone is much more, alot of awkward cuts, patterns etc all cost more! The least ive done in a day is 2m of small wall tiles, lots of cuts and the most ive done is 15m of floor.

Good luck, research the course, there should be some ratings on here for it if its been going for a while and ask to speak to some previous students if your still not too sure.
Over here the clients supply adhesive and grouts, I know in the south of England the tilers generally use their own prefered ones and price a job accordingly.

I aim for £150 per day. Until recently I wasn't getting that but since I have started supplying and fitting I have been hitting that target. I get 30% from my retailer and I pass 10% of that onto the customer. I don't know if it is the most ethical thing to do, but both parties are benefitting

What guys are saying is potential earnings,we've now had quite of lads on here that have been on courses,spent a fortune on tools then after a few months of getting no work have to sell their tools on the cheap,think hard before making any decisions.

I would always recommend once you've done a course to buying low cost tools, advertise a bit and do what work comes your way on your days off, thats if you have a full time job anyway, then build up a rep, then think about tiling full time when you are knocking back job after job cos you can't do it for 3 months or so.

Never think, do course, jack in full time job, wait for phone to ring, cos some have done this and failed quickly.

If you reside in Glasgow you should be looking at minimum of £20.00 m2 / £150 day rate. There are a few tilers on this forum who may be willing to give you there prices.
