Hey guys, just wondered how you would prep this. Floor to be tiled is chipboard, 50m2! Porcelain tile 600x400 layed brick bond. Multiple rooms, biggest being 20m2 .

I was thinking 6mm cement board bedded into flex adhesive and screwed. Stagger boards etc. Any thoughts? Products you would use instead? Ditra? Etc etc
Cheers

I did similar recently. pallet load of 6mm hardibacker onto chipboard (110sqm). Had to go under and brace the joists in a few areas but it was solid enough. I don't like HB as a rule, but as an overlay for tiling onto it's preferable to foam core boards in my opinion.
I used an impact driver with a decent wera bit holder and a few boxes of 25mm spax screws.
I toyed with the idea of an auto-feed driver for a few hundred quid but I don't do this so much.

Like impish says there are quite a few adhesives that say they are capable to go straight onto chipboard but I would worry (even if the worry is unfounded) I like to stick to what I know works. You should be looking at about £500 for hardi, screws and addy (doesn't need to be flexi - just a cheap rapid set grey).

I would have thought more like £850 plus fixing

52 boards from CTD £7.99 + vat (they knocked me £1 off a board last time I bought in bulk - and they deliver to site for free), 25mm turbogold screws from screwfix - buy the huge packs for best savings, and enough cheap addy for 50m2 of your chosen notch size - I use 6mm if it's nice and flat. Last time I did one like this I got a mate in to give me a hand and we had all the full boards down by dinnertime.
