hi folks not a big one to price but a dont tile steps that often
the whole area is 10m2 top landing then three steps coming of it. the tiles are 300x300 nothing fancy, ceramic
i am supplying materials and labour
two things any recommendations on adhesive, usually use tops so its mainly bal
and how would you go about pricing it,
i reckon it will take me two and a half days,

Go unglazed porcelain, have an edge protection strip and make sure they are all the same size treads and risers.

Hi, and to give advice on pricing we would need to know area of your job . I'd do £80-£120 per step, only for fitting. If you have to remove existing tiles , to do all prep. then it's +. And don't forget 2-3 mm slope on steps.

cool good advise on slopes, i have been working for 13 years at this and i never do steps for some reason,
the area is 10m2 inc three steps, tiles are 300x300.customer is supplying them compliments of tops tiles. the steps look fine to tile as is

if you cant do it on a price ,then doit on a daywork rate at whatever rate or on a hourly rate ,steps are always a tricky one to give a price on without the customer thinking you are ripping them off ,good luck

I'd go with day rate, but remember to warn the customer that you can only do it if the weather looks good throughout the time of the job, get any rain in there and you'll have problems.
Adhesive wise i'd go with Bal Gold Star, it's a slow set, but it will be easier to work with, and above all it doesn't slump so it will be good for the risers, don't even think about using pourable or even the normal adhesives. The best adhesive i've used for not slumping is Mapei Keraflex, hold s the tiles exactly where you fix them.

i was thinking about bal rapid set not really used much in the way of mapei as i dont have a tile giant close enough
i have told them i will do it when we look at getting decent weather for a few days , but it is scotland so i think we might of had our summer two weeks ago

i would dfo go with rapid, it's a steps, so you don't want slow set as somebody will STEP on it . +its outside so possibility of rain.
