Quarry tiles (I think) for the thousandth time of asking...

just reading through this guys , putting a dpc down on a floor that is designed to breath will force moisture to the walls , the walls then act as a wick and draw the moisture up. this can be devastating to old houses, especially timber framed houses and houses that have been cement rendered.

wow Neil, what a find! I'd love to take some floor covering up in my house and find something like that:hurray::thumbsup:

I say your notes on the Shropshire Quarry tile. I've had a couple of jobs where efforescant has come up from the floor after cleaning and sealing - especially when the c/heating was off for ages - unoccupied homes and then turn on and as the moisture in the subfloor-its always there even if it appears dry.

Neil - What breathable sealer are you going to use ? - I am interested to hear of the results. We have an option on some Post French Revolution Quarries - same thickness 1800 off 6'' x 6'' and I was going to fetch them over some time.
