is the 6mm hardibacker board for floors suitable surface for 12mm thick marble tiles its a bathroom floor and existing floor is chipboard. and another question what is the 6mm board equal to in terms of ply thickness

On chipbaord flooring 6mm is ok to use with normal flex adhesive,however onto T&G no less than 10mm backer board will do.Most bathrooms are small enough that a 2 part flex is cheaper to use than backer board and standard flexi,labour cost for fitting boards taken into consideration.Can't really compare backerboard to ply,must only go with manufacurers recommendation hope this helps Guyis the 6mm hardibacker board for floors suitable surface for 12mm thick marble tiles its a bathroom floor and existing floor is chipboard. and another question what is the 6mm board equal to in terms of ply thickness
