Questions about flooring prior to tiling

Yes it’s me... The guy who took six months to do his cloakroom (see previous thread http://www.tilersforums.com/tiling-forum/53532-1st-job-six-months-later-never.html

I’m now doing my main bathroom (3x as big) which is on the first floor. I know I have to strengthen the floor before I can tile on to it but my first couple of questions are:

The joints are approx 370mm apart, how far apart should I put the noggins for extra support?
When I have installed the noggins what type of board should be put down first?
Once the floor is screwed down do I use Ditra Matting next?

(I think that’s it for now as it will take me months to complete this stage)

How thick are your joists depth x width, your spacings between the joists are good are good...

The depth of the joists are 195mm and the width is about 40mm.

After surfing the web I’m now thinking about going down the route of using 6mm Aquapanel Floor Tile Underlay. The Aquapanel technical data sheet suggests using either chipboard or OSB Sterling Board as the substrate (hope I’ve got that right!!

However, on contacting my local timber merchant they suggest using Spruce Plywood instead as it’s been waterproofed.

Although It sound better on paper, has anybody used this prior to tiling?

Lots of noggins,, 18mm wbp ply..screwed every 150mm. then 6mm hardibacker stuck down with one part flexi addy and screwed into the ply whilst addy is still wet.

dont forget to seal the underside and edges of the ply 1st. leave a couple of mm gap between boards and walls for any expansion.

If you do noggins keep them in a straight line, joists exceeding 2.5m in length should have noggins fixed anyway..usually with 6x2 timber
