Reading glasses

Anyone know the 'L' refers to on ebay as regards reading glasses? IE: L54 +1.0 , +1.0 etc

I understand the +/- bit and the rest but can't find an answer to the above Q , any wearers out there?

I had to spend £3:50 last week on of pair of reading classes ......got to the point where my arms weren't long enough to read anything. ..lol
