I’m no expert but have grouted a few now with lime - I was advised by mikewye to use nhl5 4-1 mix with yellow sand - used it a few times on heated screeds with success, easy to apply and wash off - looks far better than a modern grout imo.

Great! What was your process? Did you seal first? Did you use a gun to point or hawk and trowel?
Thanks

sealed first - just surface not joints, then apply with a pointing trowel, let it firm then brush over or sponge if your stone isn’t too rough.

Gun could work just depends how big the aggregate in your sand is as to wether it’ll flow without blocking the nozzle.

I bought a pointing gun to do a similar floor, although terracotta. Threw it away after 5 minutes and switched to pointing trowels and patience. I'd mixed silver sand and cement with sbr. I also tried bal wide joint grout but both just clogged the gun.
I think you can get guns with a paddle built in so you can keep mixing the grout while pumping. Perhaps that's why mine was no good?

Used a pointing gun with lime mortar for my chimney and could not get on with it, found it much easier with trowels.
