I'd want to use a wide joint flexible grout personally. The limited experience I have with sand/cement grouting is a long time ago during my apprenticeship.

I want the grout to look a bit 'Sandy' would the wide grout have that look?

Ardex FL is a bit as is bal wide joint.

Yep, a specific wide joint grout has course sand in it

I’m no expert but have grouted a few now with lime - I was advised by mikewye to use nhl5 4-1 mix with yellow sand - used it a few times on heated screeds with success, easy to apply and wash off - looks far better than a modern grout imo.

Not exactly mate, i am after the same sort of color as the Victorian lime pointing, a sort of textured yellow/white color
