Refit Shower Enclosure Silicon Sealant Advice

Tilers Forums Official Sponsors

Hi All, we have recently had a new shower enclosure fitted and wanted to check whether the inside vertical profiles should be Silicon sealed as a "belt and braces" approach to prevent leaks? The instructions only state to do the outside and the bottom of the door only:

The fitter has stated we should be ok as per the above instructions, however our previous enclosure (which was a sliding door as opposed to the hinged one we have now) did have Silicon up both inside verticals and that was advised:

I have attached pictures of what the new enclosure look look like and there is slight gap between the wall and vertical profile due to the textured tiles:

Would anyone know If this ok (as stated by the instructions, but maybe on the premise that this would sit flush?) or should we add sealant between the wall and profile?
