I may need to price for regrouting a bathroom soon. I will use a grout rake and just need to know how long it will take roughly per metre and how much I should charge if I provide the grout etc.

Members can pm you to give advice on costs but we like to keep costings out of the public forums.

Do you need to re grout? cant you use Aqua mix grout colorant, or the Mapei grout colorant?

Hi cm0264,

Not price related in accordance with Forum rules, but the advice I would give you (especially if you think you will get a few regrouting jobs) is to invest in a Fein cutter with diamond wheel attachment:thumbsup: This makes short work of cleaning old grout out with minimal tile edge damage and air bound dust is kept to a minimum:thumbsup:

It's just a lot easier than messing on with grout rakes:thumbsup:

Mmmm! Am I right in thinking that if the grout is merely discoloured/dirty or different colours due to wear that Aqua mix grout colorant will do the job. Is regrouting only really necessary is pieces of old grout are falling out, is uneven etc?

If grout is cracked or falling out, then I would generally suspect additional issues, i.e. tiles blown.

I refuse to re-grout because too much can go wrong and end up costing you money.

Either way, if you are willing to take the risk, then only price it based on day rates plus materials and not a metre price.

The bosch multi cutter was on offer in focus not so long ago, got mine for £53. 1/4 of the price of a fein and does the same job, just get a suitable attatchment to remove the grout and your away. cutter will also come in handy when removing the bottom of backmoulds etc. well worth the small investment, you will without doubt slip with a grout rake and probably damage quite a few tiles by the end of the job.
