Hi

I`ve had my old bathroom removed by builders and there is a lot of old adhesive left on the walls. They suggested just leaving the old adhesive on and fill the empty areas with new adhesive to fill it out. Any suggestions what to do, remove it all or do what they suggest..
heres a pic of one wall. This probably has the least amount of adhesive left on it.
thanks

Looking at that pic , it looks like it is flaking in places etc....i would remove as much as you can and then make the walls good with a one coat plaster ...

It also looks like some old paint there that is flakey as well so would be wise to remove that as well........

good luck........

Agree with Dave, remove as much as you can, and make good with some one coat, prime the surface and away you go....Gaz

ok thanks.

Further investigation seems that a lot of the adhesive comes of pretty easy. And the surface below is faily intact. Is there a chance I could just prime the surface and forget about the plastering. Was wanting to get started on the tiling today.

btw BAL Prime APD , is that the best option for the primer. And any ideas how much it is from somewhere like topps.

If it has pulled the skim of as well , then it needs patching anyway .....the base coat will not be stable enough to fix too...........

At Topps the primer is called BAL primer it's abot £8 per litre, prime the walls then use some rapid set to patch up b4 tiling, this will enable you to start tiling after about 1 hr.....Gaz

That all needs to come off and be re skimmed. From what I can see the top half appears to be paint that has been tiled too, then you have what appears to be bonding on the bottom.
