I use a good decorators scraper to knock tiles off, the good quality ones professional decorators use that have steel all the way in the handle. They are strong and nice and thin but you can tap them with a hammer. That gets most (DIY tiles) off except the well stuck ones, then its a bolster.

I started removing some tiles this week the bathroom was half tiled and i used a bolster and just 1 tap got the full wall of tiles off and the plaster right down to the brick had to plasterboard half wall the customer offered to pay for the boarding as soon as i told her but not all customers are like that they expect you to stick with the quote, so i add on what it will cost if it needs boarding or plastering then if the extra work is not needed the customer is happy i may lose some jobs like that but i dont lose money

charge a day rate of about 150. i have a mate who only touches jobs that are ready to tile onto! depends if you want to do prep work!! get an apprentice if not!!!!!!!

Use a 4 inch bolster and dont go in to heavy handed . Start by breaking one then get your bolster in under the lip of th tile and tap away the tile often come off nearly whole :less mess to clean up; make sure the bath has plenty protection , and most important WEAR SAFETY GLASSES . Happy Hitting

 lol, it did take me a good Saturday afternoon to remove them all and I only had a little filling to do as they mostly came clean away.
If I may plz..interject..just got this far...in this thread S.S. would like to personally thank....all the crap tilers who have gone before me...........who put the tiles on.. that I had to knock off ! and bugger ! but fair play ....to the good tilers who have gone before me .......who have made gut, back to brickwork and re-instate.....best and worse scenario....Gaz

I always estimate my jobs first, say either you remove the tiles first, then I can inspect the walls behind and give a propper quote, or I can remove first then the above.

Or quote straight off the bat for tiling on good flat wall that need no prep work.
