Removing wall tiles from breeze blocks

Hi, I have recently bought a flat and wanted to take the bathroom back to its shell. However, it turns out that the wall tiles are cemented directly onto the breeze blocks: does anyone have any suggestions on how I can remove the tiles without bringing the walls down? I don't care about doing a bit of damage to the blocks as I intend to have the walls plastered once I can get the tiles off (and I really don't want to tile on top of the current tiles).

Any suggestions as to equipment or techniques gratefully received!

hi i use a 100mm brickeys chisel and a mash hammer (gloves and glasses)remove or cover all breakables (bath vanity loo):8:

Small SDS drill/breaker with large chisel bit in it.
The chisel should have the shaft slightly bent to allow getting behind the tiles without scraping your knuckles.
Any hire shop shoud know what you need.

ALWAYS wear safety goggles and gloves when doing this kind of work

Boh the above, and plenty of strong rubble bags otherwise you are knee deep before you know it!

as above but i prefer gorilla tubs loaded straight into my trailer

As all above but get some one else (labourer/friend/family or the other half) to pick all the mess up as you go.

Sds small breaker, just check if any of the neighbours are on night work before breaking the tiles off:smilewinkgrin:

Hilti te 16-c with 1 1/2 to 2" pan head chizle smooth over with 5" concrete cutter on a varible speed grinder. very fast and efficent.
