heats up the whole room in three minutes

Who would ever claim it heats a room in three minutes, the claim is the ribbon heats to working temperature within three minutes.

Noone can comment on how quick it would heat up a room without doing a heatloss calculation and knowing the air pressure in that room and even then it is finger and thumbs calculations.

to bring clarity, the element heats in 3 minutes, the flooring product is heated (times vary dependent on floor covering and start temperature (calorific value)) and then the room is heated.

I don't know how fast the cable heats up because there are more variants of cable and power outputs. Carbon is within 3 to 4 minutes then it heats the flooring.

My electric cooker heats to 200 Degrees in less than 5 minutes but I still have to wait 20 minutes for my bl**dy Pie :drool5:.

I suppose if I had a industrial gas heater I could heat my room in 3 minutes and melt my sofa at the same time but I dont think I will carry out that experiment.

So you confirm now that you can't heat up a room in three minutes I take it then? That's good news. So working temperature within three minutes it is then, not heat up a room in three minutes.

It's not my thing these days to get too involved in UFH debate. Though I'm pleased to hear the 17th edition regs are sorting out problematic electrical installations and I'm sure you'll get to the bottom of it. All the best.

Not used it personally but seen it used. If it is what I think it is, it is just for under carpets and laminates. Was on a job in Grantham. Looked like a good idea but very very inefficient. Would cost a flippin fortune to run cos most of the heat goes into the concrete floor underneath and it is not warm enough to overcome the themral mass issue. Suppose it would be ok in a small bathroom with a well insulated timber floor but I wont be rushing out to buy some myself.

Just bumping some threads in the underfloor heating forum. You can now find and search for both electric underfloor heating and water underfloor heating threads. By the way, if you feel some of the threads you want to be seen at the top of the forum need to be bumped back, for the next month or so from now, feel free to do that. Although it's not usually something we allow, whilst we're going through this process of changing over forum software, we see the need for this to happen.
