Hi all
Right i have a big problem... I have taken 9 tiles of the side of the bath without damaging the other tiles.. I doing this because the tiles were lose and grout was crack and have been for about 2 years.. this is where i find myself being an idot for leaving it too long.. the adisive (not sure if that how you spell it) came off on the tiles so the plaster bored is intact.. or plaster on top of it is... But it damp and very damp if you ask me... been told the whole lot need to be rip out and replace will cost me a fourtune.. but this wasnt from a builder it from my father in-law.. will have to save a while to do this.. but is this a possible soloution below

Let it dry out for about a week
the re tile it???
mean i have to bath all week

i attach a pictue for you guys ij.jpgij.jpg

Hate to say it but, your father in law is spot on. A lot of water damage there and I'd say it will be the same behind the other tiles.

the plasterboard is ruined and needs replacing. you may get away with removing just a few rows till you get to some solid /dry board. it won't cost a lot to do, an 8 by 4 plasterboard is only a fiver and by the looks them tiles are 150 x 150 whites so only cheap too. you'll be wasting your time and money by retiling on that board

Hi Iain,

Honestly that needs ripped out & replaced, that is quite a bit of water ingress that will have traveled up behind your tiles & probably down below your bath also.

You could let it dry out & replace the tiles but you are only going to be covering up the problem you have.

Hi Iain

I reckon your father-in-law is right. It looks rotten behind there. Is it just the long side of the bath? Plasterboard is not that expensive and wouldn't need to be skimmed. Can you still get the tiles?
