I know what you're saying I know of some pastes that are self priming ardex d20 I think it is springs to mind but really are you telling me that as you put a paste on the wall it instantly seals the wall to stop any moisture in the paste prematurely drying into the background .Most pastes are self priming so its not needed.
Also, the sbr layer will make it harder for the paste to dry out.
Adhesive powder or ready mix needs to cure not dry to optimise adhesion.
If your a housebasherI'm not suggesting that the pastes seal a porus substrate,rather that they don't necessarily need it sealed.
Pastes are fairly slow to dry and a porus substrate to help aid the process would seem to me, to be a good thing.
