Schluter Kerdi wall - to bath or floor?

I was watching a film on Youtube about installing a Schluter Kerdi-Board wall beside a bath. You will notice from the attached picture that the installer is about to install a Kerdi-Board from the bath up.

Do you think it would be okay to install the Schluter Kerdi-Board wall first from the floor up to the ceiling, then install the bath, then tile from the bath up? That way, it means the 19mm thick Kerdi-Board will provide acoustic insulation below the level of the bath lip.

However, I suppose by doing this it would be difficult/impossible to install a horizontal supporting beam along the underside of the bath as can be observed in the photo (attached to the studs).

Of course. No different to plasterboard in this case. However, you speaking acoustic insulation..... if this is the case you will need the dedicated tapes and sealants to make a difference. Just using boards makes little difference

Are these dedicated Schluter acoustic sealants, or are you referring to the standard Schluter waterproof sealants?

Correct to go from the floor up, and in relation to Geoffs comment consider KERDI-TS (Schlüter®-KERDI-TS | Function | Schlüter-Systems - http://www.schluter.co.uk/schlueter-kerdi-ts-function.aspx) for the bath to wall junctions, with KERDI-FIX (Schlüter®-KERDI-FIX | Function | Schlüter-Systems - http://www.schluter.co.uk/kerdi-fix-function.aspx) and DILEX-AS (Schlüter®-DILEX-AS | Function | Schlüter-Systems - http://www.schluter.co.uk/dilex-as.aspx) as this will give you sound reduction, and a maintenance free waterproof seal.

I'm not entirely sure as to precisely what the difference is between the Schlüter®-KERDI-TS and the Schlüter®-DILEX-AS.

Are both used in conjunction?

With respect to the Kerdi-Board running from the floor to the ceiling, are both fitted along the lip of the bath before tiling?

Or anywhere else, such as where the Kerdi-board meets the floor (under the bath) or where the Kerdi-Board meets the ceiling?

The video you are watching is off the North American Channel and methods differ to those in the Europe. The below video shows the boarding floor to ceiling prior to the bath being fitted.


This video is pre-KERDI-TS being launched so refer tot he links in my previous post for installation and you are right it used with DILEX-AS.
