Hi all,

Completed what I think is my finest work, 35sqm trav walls and floor, gorgeous stuff, don't know what I was so scared of.

Just had a call of the customer and nipped round, the plumber dragged yes DRAGGED the toilet into the room and scratched the floor on approx 15 tiles, any ideas as to how and how long as his insurance will pay. Tile removal not an option as it would probably damage the surrounding tiles. What a T**T:mad2:

 Sent you a PM Jim.

Also found this.................

Light scratches and wear patterns in travertine tile are removed with special diamond honing disks which are used with a weighted buffer-type machine. This produces a pleasant matte finish. Most travertine without deep scratches can be “freshened” with polishing, similar to honing but less aggressive. Using the same machine, a special polishing pad and polishing compound can bring the floor to an attractive and very natural high polish.

From an Yank site?

But basically wot I said on the pm.

Very fine wet/dry & plenty of water............but it will take the sheen off the tiles...........so your'll need to repolish.

Charge for removal/replace tiles just in case.............it could take an hour.........or all day. It is one of them right pain in the butt jobs.

When done............Punch the plumber

Jimbob if you are not experienced at removing scratches etc etc from stone tiles then do not take it on.
You could make the floor look even worse....the plumber caused the damage , so get the customer to claim against him and get a floor restorer in.....give Tilinglogistics a bell and see if he can help you out.......

Sorry been away! Don't know if I am coming or going at moment. Only way to get scratches out is to hone and polish accordingly. May even need grinding if they are deep. Just been to Devon yesterday to deal with same problem 68M2 of Jura Limestone the furniture people dragged heavy sofa right across it. A couple of screws were protruding out the bottom of the sofa the result is two beautiful tramline gouges right the way across the floor.

Just goes to show............

In a recent survey (by me:grin: )

We asked a 100 tilers, (who expressed an opinion)

Found that 99% of Plumbers are total MUPPETS :mad2:

Plumbers have cracked a great many tiles for me... "BOOOOYAH!!! LET'S USE A HAMMER DRILL TO MAKE SUM HOLES, YEEEEEHAAAW!!!"............. :mad2:
