I use Stanley pads where possible! I tried Harris professional and they are fine on most sealers it just seems when you are applying certain sealers the Harris ones seem to leave tiny hairs on the stone. The problem is they are expensive because I never clean them to reuse they just go in the bin. I am looking for a bulk suupplier of Stanley ones if anyone knows where:thumbsup:

Kev

in the last job, (my patio) I used a standard household mop... (the one that has the squizable sponge at the end) on 30mm travertine and used Lithofin Stainstop in a paint tray. Worked just fine. It left some cristal residue but they disappired after a light wipe with the cloth. The mop was new and it cost a couple of quid.

One thing though I could only manage 2 coats of 23 m2 each before the sponge started to come apart from the holder.

3 weeks later.... my brother spilled a big glass of wine on the floor. wiped it off within 10 minutes and... the tiles were not affected by it. :hurray:

Danny,

OK fair enough if that is really the case think about it. Because even though I am nearly twice your age I am prepared to learn as well!!! Dip a pad in sealer and spread it on a workable area within reach, allow to dwell and work it in! How can you possibly have the same control with a roller you dont know where its gone or where it spread to? Furthermore, whatever sealant this thread started with and i don't have the time or inclination to look it up your task tonight is to try and find me some instructions where it says apply this product or any other sealer for that matter with a roller!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Goodnight and God Bless!!!

Kev

People are on here to learn, dont make silly statements

As it happens Aqua mix are the only sealer supplier that direct the use of a paint pad. In 15 yrs I have never used one but always use a cloth like that used to buff a car, comes on a roll.

I think everyone has a way of doing it that they find best.

This might also be of interest to you :

Directions: The surface has to be completely dried out, clean and stain-free. Apply Lithofin STAIN-STOP with brush, roller or cloth and avoid foam. Treat any slightly absorbent material (polished marble) within 30 minutes several times, then wipe off thoroughly any excess with a rag, moistening if necessary with product Attention! Important ! The product must soak into the surface, do not allow to dry before removing any excess from surface. No visible product should dry on the surface; wipe away carefully.

As you are prepaired to learn and just so you realise Aquamix is just one product of many and there are other ways besides theirs / yours, ;)

Why do you insist on saying things like "Silly Statement" or " You can't Spell" etc

I am always prepared to learn. The application of sealer with a pad has nothing to do with Aqua Mix or the directions on their bottles. It is my preferred method to achieve the best control and coverage when applying Aqua Mix and all other makes of sealants I use. I am not Aqua Mix brainwashed I do use all different makes of sealers when the situation calls for it. The question on the post was comparing the use of a roller to a paint pad to apply sealants I simply stated a pad was better than a roller IMO.

You obviously prefer stockinette and support Lithofin. This is where we differ I have tried them all and Aqua Mix is my preferred but not only product.

Don't you need to rinse off then?
What type of pad do you use for the buffing? Good to know for everybody else.

cheers snipsnap, aye rinsed off as we went along before the stripper hardened on the trav

not too sure which pads they wer got a lend of a couple of machines off a mate and he supplied the pads an all, just know that we started off with a white pad and ended up using the green one it done the business, but't prob depend on the type of stone ya'd be using,

1 good thing is i've definately picked up a few pointers from this, in future if i dont know the sealer il be researching it a lot better and not just assuming they all work the same cos they definately dont!!

The statement you made is below and its obsurd to make such statements when people are asking for advice. If you wish to get in a tangle with people then thats your prerogative but use fact

Simply stating a fact.
