turned up to tile kitchen today at a rental property. wavy edge tiles but all totally different sizes. worse example i have ever seen. looked at tiles picked for bathroom plain brown boxes with white sticker stamped seconds. opened box plain white 13x10 with johnsons tiles on the inside. 25 sqm to fix. will probably look like an ill fitting patchwork quilt when finished!:mad2:
I used to stick 20% on the price for seconds though would refuse them if I could. I used to say to the customer you'll save a few quid on the tiles but it'll cost you more to get them fixed and it'll look poor.

To add to the above.
If you don't want to fit seconds, make the customer aware of the fact that not only may they be different sizes, and some of them not square, they may even be not flat meaning they will need more adhesive. With that fact and the extra grout due to the wider joints the amount they saved is quickly pulled back on the materials to fit them. And that's before you've mentioned the extra time you need to spend to get them right, meaning a higher price per meter.
