Just incase you think i'm a muppet here's an extract from Topps tiles website.

Fix additional battens or studs to ensure all edges of Aquapanel are supported. Fill the gaps between Aquapanel boards with waterproof tile adhesive. To strengthen the joints Aquapanel joint tape may be bedded into the wet adhesive. Your walls are now ready to tile using flexible waterproof adhesive.

Exactly, waterproof means water will not get through it, not the case in adhesives, Water passess through it, the class types tells you wether it will affect the properties, Water resistant is the propper term as you mentioned

i use granfix acrylic and it eliminates slip but im gonna try mapeis d1!! anybody know of a spf powder that has zero slip ???

Phone Mapei Technical in Birmingham - ask them to post you a copy of "the little black book of adhesives"
Many of their powders are high grab & zero slip 🙂
