.......... , not quite ready to start yet as i am still waiting for my new worktops , however i have been doing some thinking about setting out the tiles , my first question is , i have 2 options for the bottom row of tiles ( 50 mm square porcelain on a 300 x 300 sheet ) , option 1 , have a half row of tiles to start which will look better around the window reveal but will mean cutting around 5 metres worth !!! , or have a full tile to start which i dont think will look as good but will mean not having to cut around 5 metres worth in half , one other point , as i am doing it for myself time and cost is not really an issue , maybe i will lose my sanity if i do the half cuts though :yikes:

Take the timber sill off mate and build up what is left to suit your full cube:thumbsup:

Are you tiling the new worktops, only you have set your mosaic up from a flat piece on the worktop??

i used the upside down piece of mosaic to simulate a Silicon joint line between the bottom row of tiles and the top surface of the worktop , i could do away with the cill , but if i do i will be left with a marked window frame that i dont think i will be able to clean up very well though , it is a good point and i will look at having a go at cleaning the window

If the window is Upvc have a look at something like this:
B&Q | nextday.diy.com - 12,000+ DIY products next working day delivery
If timber just rub it down and gloss it again:thumbsup:
Either way it would be the dodgy mosaic tile cut folk would see if you left the timber sill, which would stand out more than a window frame that could be cleaned with a bit of the old elbow grease:hurray::thumbsup:

good tip:thumbsup: but you can get professional grade UPVC cleaner for about the same money, just pop down to your nearest double glazing factory and they will sell you some

You may already have this in mind, but i'd patch up the plaster to give you a smooth surface to tile off first or you'll have hell of a job trying to get a nice finish:thumbsup: much quicker in the long run

i am going to face it off with 6 mm hardiebacker to make sure i get the best start i can , as for the Silicon joint between bottom row of tiles and worktop surface , what sort of size joint is good to go for ? , i suspect i will be using mapei ultra color with matching Silicon :)

On a worktop just turn your spacers on the side (laying flat on the work top) and rest the tile edge on top, this normally gives you about 2.5mm
