Is it not just sooooo much easier to take that bit ply off and clean the window frame :dizzy2:

i had a look at the frame , and a quick clean , it looks as though it could be marked too bad to work , it may not be though , so it is still an option , to be honest i am open to all options and ideas

the ply sill removal has got to be your best bet - if the frame is damaged then buy a strip of white upvc bullnose capping about 40mm high by 5mm thick and fix it over the damage after tiling this will cover you joint between tiles and window also

Your tiling will look spot on and your frame will look brand new - everybody is happy...

B&Q, Wickes, etc will all stock such an item:smilewinkgrin:

again , another option , however , i have some experience of upvc as i used to fit it a few years ago , you would not believe how many shades of white there are , bit like tiles i suppose :yikes:

Laminate worktops come in 30/38/40/50 and 60mm. Most places will sell 30 & 38 and now 50mm is becoming popular so quite easy to get out of stock. Raising the worktops involves re-fitting the base units if you stick with standard worktops, but be careful as all freestanding appliances will have a large gap above them if you do this, the appliances can be raised also but then this leaves a large gap underneath and most appliance have fairly poor feet which can become unstable if raised too much.

It's ok if only by a few mil but it looks like you need a fair amount.

There are other possible issues too, all extractor fans have to be a certain height above the hob (distance depends type of fuel).

Taking out the window board is by far the easiest option; the professional UPVC cleaners actually slightly melt the UPVC surface to re-finish it so even deep marking can be buffed out.

Failing all of that get some nice glass splash backs

Also if you intend to tile the cill then remove the wood and line with plaster board..the wood will expand and contract thus cracking the grout on the face edge..

looking at the job , the original cill is still there under the board you can see , it has just had the bullnose cutoff , i was intending using hardiebacker to line the reveal , so i would have a lyer of 6 mm hardiebacker over the original cill , i now reckon the marks on the upvc frame can be dealt with ok , so thats one issue gone , the tiles appear to have a 3 mm spacing so i will set them off the worktop surface by the 3mm a spacer will give me :)
