I have a problem!

My auntie is having an extension built for my disabled cousin, the goverment is paying for it but she wasn't happy with the tiles that were being used(plain 10 by 10's)so she decided to ask me to get her some tiles from topps using my discount.I got her some 30 by 20 in white and she was really happy with them.
Now I couldn't do the tiling because the firm doing the extension had to do everything for insurance reasons. She phoned me up after it was done and looking at it she thought some tiles were a different shade.Looking at it it looks like some tiles are much more glassed than others, its very obvious.Looking at how there so scattered it looks like the tiles were all mixed up in the boxes and not that different batches(boxes) were mixed up.It probably wasn't so noticeable when they were being laid as there wasn't much light in the room and the light wasn't fitted.

Heres the problem, she supplied the tiles so its not the contractors fault but what will Topps say when we complain, the problem is very noticeable.Surely they're at fault for selling us boxes with mixed up tiles.the tiles are all up on the wall now so what do you think they'll suggest.
I don't want to get arsey cause they send alot of work my way.:huh2::huh2:

Usually simon , all tiles should be checked for shading etc before bieng fixed.....but it won't hurt to ask.....

Buyer beware m8 once tiles are fixed you are responsible and any retailer will say your tiler should of checked.

Not much to do I think unless Gaz has something up his sleive

I really hope they don't come out with any crap like that cause I won't have it. I think even if I had done them it would have been difficult to notice in that light.I would understand if they were different batches(which they weren't cause I always check)but to be mixed up in the same box thats awful, like I said I don't think its the colour more to do with the glaze,I'd happily remove and re-install the tiles myself for free but I expect the tiles and mats free.

If I don't get this it'll cost them thousands cause I'll never send another customer there again or buy my mats from them.I'll just swallow the loss of customers they send my way.

Im doing a porcelain job at the moment and even the boxes say check for shading as mistakes cannot be delt with after fixing.

Its their no comeback statement and get out of jail free card m8

Chill out Simon I think your best angle is to get the builder to sort it, his work his problem m8 once you pick your tools up the builder is scott free

You need to convince them it is a tile fault and not a shading prob.....

If you have samples left , take them with you........

good luck and let us know what topps say about it..

you,ll normally see on the boxes
a degree of shade variation is inherent in all ceramic tiles

If the tiles had not been laid and just taken back then I would have thought Topps would have exchanged them, but now they have been fitted I wouldn't know.

There seems to be two different degrees of glazing, one tile is fine the other is more highly glazed, its not like there was a bunch of one then the other its almost like 1 good,2 bad,2good,4 bad.

Simon we know you are a decent bloke and im sure topps do aswell so i think they might understand the situation, just be honest with them and explain the problem and im sure they would come out and have a look.Take pictures etc for back up and try and keep calm and dignified about the whole scenario m8 and you will be fine.
