Re: sigma or rubi

I've never seen so many turncoats in one thread :prrr: fine, if you were Rubi one day and Sigma the next, but some of you guys I've known now for a few years and always gone Rubi, to put them down as a 'toy' is a bit off imho, fine, go Sigma, personal choice but please don't slate a brand that has served you well, at least give an unbiased report so that people can have an informed opinion.

My

Re: sigma or rubi

Having used both i would say, sigma are more robust tougher machines that will take more abuse, they cut better too. Rubi are better for more bespoke work though as you can see the cutting wheel. Both cutters are good. Whichever you buy, you will learn how to use.

On a normal pull handle the wheel is clear as day, but you lean to one side rather than standing upright with your wee machine resting on its wee red plastic box.

Re: sigma or rubi

i have a ts60 for about 5 years, great machine for ceramics, but as tiles got harder and bigger it was junk, still got it mind and use it every month.
i got the tx700,another great machine, easy cuts big hard porca, and looks well posh in its big red box, people think i know what im doing when i get it out the van.
Not calling sigma, never used one,but rubi have worked fine for me,why change ;)

I still have my TX700 (new model) , great cutter and no one was more Anti Sigma than me.. , but i tried one and now i have 3 Sigma cutters and sold my rubi's except the TX700 which my son is going to keep as he was brought up on rubi cutters and prefers them ..

But for shear smooth cutting action and unprecedented breaking power with NO marks on mat finish tiles like the tx does.. then it is Sigma for me now ..

Re: sigma or rubi

Would be interesting to know Rubi's market share in England compared with a few years ago. Bound to be balancing out. Would say their market share in NI/ROI would be around 5-10% if they were lucky. Northern Ireland has always been lagging behind the mainland in transport, housing and salaries, but we made up for it all those years by being able to cut tiles efficiently.
