What do you guys use to lubricate the bar on your cutters? Have tried wd40 but its not really very good

Just a bit of 3in1 oil for mine....

Wd40 will work but tends to attract dust etc and then it makes it worse...it also builds up inside the handle.
Ptfe spray works well, I have tried it and its ok but I prefer car polish ! Seems to work well and not attract dust.

yes ramic, it gets worse. someone suggested gun oil?

Silicone oil.. spray on then wipe off..

Dunno never tried gun oil but cant see it being any different. You do need to oil the wheel but only a drop, I then wipe the wheel clean, otherwise you will get a black oil line when you scribe the tile.
Maybe a rag coated in a light oil and kept in a polythene bag. A quick wipe over the bar first thing and should be ok for a while.

Quick question for you guys.

I use one of the big sigmas now and then that a contractor I work for has. I cant see what model it is on any tags or plates on it.

To indetify it I was going to measure from the blade to theback edge of the slide to give me the cutting size?

It's either a 9M or 10M I think , anyone give me the distance so I can indentify the machine.

you could always try graffite lock smiths use it to lubricate lock's instead of light oil ,so as not to attract dust /dirt and clogging the mechanism .........

Silicone spray is what I have always been told. Big can for only a few quid.

Believe it or not i find using any type of spray clogs the bar up,i use a damp sponge and have never had it sticking and thats on the 3 sigmas i have.

Try the butter from your sandwiches;!! Lol. I use a bit of car polish also ! Found that wd40 only ended up dripping everywhere !

I was told years ago, NEVER lubricate the bar
Just keep it clean and DRY

I use WD40 as it's usually handy but only need to spray a cutter if it's not been used in a few weeks. By right they should just be kept clean and wiped down daily to stop them sticking in the first place though.

Even gun oil will build up gunk etc.To assure the best protection of the metal on the tile cutter you can clean the parts first with oil.Basically clean them with oil,then wipe them dry with clean cloths till they are bone dry.Then re-lubricate the parts that need it.Personally I think WD40 will do the same thing as any other oil!

I oil at the end of the day and wipe clean,but should I be on this thread I am one of those Rubi tilers.But I am thinking of crossing over to the dark side.
