This is to the Sigma users.

Now be honest and no oh yes no probs..


My monty cuts porcelains and other hard tiles all day long no probs at all..but today and yesterday we have been cutting 10mm thick red biscuit ceramics 19 inch by 13 inch.

The problem is the breaker was chipping these tiles now and again under the foot, with either breaker foot as well..unless the break pressure was spot on.

Does the sigma do this as well on certain ceramics if hit too hard..? and i want the truth you sigma lot.:smilewinkgrin:

I use mine for lots of types of tile. Now and again it will chip a tile but nothing to worry about. It tends to be the 1st cut or two that you do until you guage the pressure needed to put on the arm.

I know you were asking the sigma users Dave, but occasionally I've noticed the same with my tx700, I fettled it by placing a piece of cardboard between tile and breaker.

Iv never had a prob with ceramics and only one porcelain that my sigmas won't cut- leonardo casia beige ! Wet cut only and I'm even laying them today.
Get a loan of a sigma Dave or better take that tile to someone who knows how to use a sigma !when cutting with a sigma you can push or thump lightly the handle to break tile.

I know about the tx thing doug but on these machines it is a different type of chipping.. hard to define but sigma lads will know what i mean..

You would think that soft ceramics would break easy as can be but actually the harder the tile the easier it breaks on these machines.

I have never had to "thump" the handle, just different types of pressure and in different places along the tile.

Joe.. the pressure isn't a problem mate , just these B&Q tiles didn't like the feet on the cutter... now the sigma only has one set of breaker feet where as the monty has 2 sets.. so honestly if you have never broken a ceramic tile then i find that hard to comprehend.

not had any probs with ceramics, had a prob with some porcelain plank tiles once would:nt break them, neither would any rubi
cant remember name of tile

I have not fitted the tiles you on Dave, but ceramics don't break on my sigmas.
Some porcelain yes but very few.
If I come across any that are a struggle then I pull the wet saw in.
Neale, I often hit my handle a good tap and it's just habit, lol. But cuts real well and no problems which just shows how nicely set up the sigma is.
You need a sigma user who has fitted same tiles Dave to give opinion.

dont know if this is true for sure but apparently, some tiles simply break in half within 3 ft of a sigma such are there mystical breaking powers?????????????????????????????????????????????

Have found with the sigma if the bar that hold the breaking handle is'nt adjusted (raised up) properly when breaking thick porcelain the cutting wheel chips the tile when hitting the handle, probably to hard, I have a klick klock handle on mine..

Thats just me being a bit lazy though not the cutters fault but dos'nt happen often..

you might chip one or two to start with but then you dont put to much pressure on the breaker and its fine, on some tiles i can just scribe them and they snap where you want them to without even pushing the breaker down
