Hi guys

Thought I'd fill you in on what happened today at work, I think what your about to read will put this argument to bed once and for all!!:hurray:

So I'm tiling this small hallway, I've started at the end furtherest from the front door and I'm working my way back. As I get closer to the door it's getting tight for space so I move all my tools out to the front drive including my cutter. At around 2.30pm a guy pulls up in a van to deliver wooden floors, he stops about 3 or 4 feet away from all my gear. He gets out I show him where the flooring has to go and he gets back in the van to reverse to the side door of the house.

Now here comes the interesting bit!!!

In order to reverse around the side, the guy has to drive forward to get the angle to turn the van. ( can you see where this is going? )

Sure enough as I'm watching while filling a bucket of water, he proceeds to drive straight over the front end of my cutter:thumbsdown::thumbsdown::mad2::mad2:

As the list of swear words came out of my mouth I watched the cutter do a full flip and land upside down on the ground.

the guy gets out of the van, he looks at me, I look at him!!!! I walk over and look at my poor cutter and low and behold not even so much as a single scratch on it!!:hurray::thumbsup:

Which type of cutter was it?? Sigma of course:thumbsup:

Not only was it strong enough to stand up to a van being driven over it, it was also smart enough to take a lump out of the muppets front bumper while it flipped, serving to remind him to never ever drive over a sigma again.

As I said above I think we can now put this issue to bed as I don't think there could be any more conclusive evidence to support the fact that Sigma is, always has been and always will be the best cutter out there!!

Any one thinking of buying a RUBI, while they might look impressive you have to ask yourself, sure it might cut great, but could I drive my van over it??

:lol::lol:

Really. Well delivery driver dropped this in the box and this happened.

Indestructible ?

I will say though , the service for replacement cutter from sigma was spot on. Ruff *** delivery drivers.

Hmm, you had a sigma replaced with another sigma?!!
I haven't been gone that long , I turn my back for 5 mins and you go and get yourself a , a sigma!! I'm a little disappointed Dave, what's going on over there?

Interlink will be paying for that cutter!. It's the first one i have had damaged in 2 years and we have sent a few cutters over that time. Anyway Dave you got one mate.

And very pleased with it, and testing on cheapo ceramics today and no crushing like the montolit.

Oh and I did the slither test on an off cut  and that did surprise me , these tiles are 9mm thick and it took 10mm off. Cannot do that on a "ahem " Rubi.

Right back to it. Got tiles to get on. 🙂

I have to say that i have never tried to cut a sliver of a tile but i will have a go today. That machine looks soooo clean!!!.

It was just to see if it could do it Pete, sometimes i am governed on these wetrooms to where the tile finishes at ceiling height as i have to start of the vinyl trim with a full tile, so it works what it works to the ceiling.. but my TS will not cut small slivers from a full tile without breaking away but the Sigma does no probs..

I would like to use the pull handle though to see how the smaller foot works etc.

It is yes, strange at first as it isn't a straight scribe and snap.. would be good to try the pull handle to compare.

Im going to send you all the handles Dave to play around with. You can then get a feel for what works best for you.

Also gents one to remember. when you change a handle over on a Sigma you must only release the nut on the bar at the base end not where the guide rail is. I had a guy who released both ends and just spun around the whole bar which might knock it out of line. They come calabrated from Italy so just be aware. slide the handle off the bar from the back end then either turn it around or switch the handle over. If your cutter ever goes out of line in the future then its a simple thing to get it right again. (small alen key and spanner) on the guide rail where you see the silver knob where the measurments are. it adlusts from there to get it right again. two min job.

really..?.. wow another late birthday prezzy 🙂🙂🙂.. i do want to use the pull one though as that seems the quickest one to use..

I had a look today at how easy the handle is too change... i thought it might be a chew but nah.. just undo the height adjuster and lift up off the rail , slide the handle off and bingo changed.

which one did you get Dave?, I've been thinking 3CM to replace my tx700, although I'd probs go for kk handle

Was hoping I wouldn't ever need to use a manual tile cutter again lol

Sorry am i missing something but to replace the handle I have to remove the roll pin too ?

Not that I have a Klick Klock handle to try

Yes. knock the pin out at the back so the handle slides off. We have a new system out soon where its just a quick release fitting. No more hitting the pin out with hammer.
