I have a karl Dahm silicon kit. Has tools with different radii and flat angles. Once you apply the Silicon, spray with water/washing liquid and run the tool along removing the excess. Try to keep the tool at the same angle all the way along as much as possible.

As you have discovered, Silicon is an aquired skill!

you can get them off the net, google Karl Dahm Silicon kit and I am sure you will find it.

What's the best way to seal a bath / kitchen with sealant after tiling?

I just can't get a decent finish, spoils the look of my tiling. Tried spraying with water and washing up liquid then smoothing with my finger but it looks sh*t.

Any tips?

Hi its all down to practise, dont cut the sealer gun nozzle to far up, the smaller the opening the better cos when you run your finger over it dos'nt spread to far etc every where. Hope this helps

Thanks Grumpy, just found a set for £22.99, does that sound about right? Looks like a few smoothing tools, different angles etc.

If they work it will be a god send.

Cheers

£22.99 is way too much - I got a set from TradeTiler http://www.tradetiler.com/acatalog/siliconing_tiles.html

for £10.54 - work a treat too, but don't use cheap Silicon and don't spray with soapy water. Better results without IMO.

(apologies admin if TT is a naughty link!)

That's what I use. A small piece of plastic to remove excess/even out the Silicon after I've sprayed it with a spray-thingemagig loaded with detergent and water. I couldn't be arsed to take a pic of the Silicon gun. The result is always perfect, and an average bathroom takes about 5 minutes to do. All those "Silifix" tools and what ever are over rated; the result you get from those isn't better than what you get with this little £0.10 piece of plastic.
