Silly prices again

Asked to quote for a bathroom and ensuite, walls and floors, travertine 600 x 400, labour only. Quoted £25 per m2, explained the wet cutting, sealing etc. Not an easy job, lots of cuts, customer said builder had quoted, £7 per m2. Told customer that is a totally unrealistic price and that the builder can have the job and that i wouldn't be lowering my rate at all. I wish they would listen to a tiler when it comes to tiling and not listen to a builder !!!!!!

the only way were going to get out of this recession is by not lowering our prices.........im doing my bit by quoting a fair price, what i need to make a good living, and run a buisness........and its a lot more than £7 m2!!!

In my experience an average bathroom is about 15 m2, so that's £105 to do a whole bathroom in travertine. That will take 3 if not 4 days to do! I think £25 is very low especially if that includes materials.

The price is for labour only. The customer questioned my rate, and i really couldn't be bothered to explain why my rate differed so much. It was obvious that they wanted the cheapest price possible, but £7m2 is way too low.
