slate floor tiles

Hello,
I have recently bought a house, moved in and the kitchen has slate tiles on the floor which are loose. The grout in between has cracked and dried out. I am wondering whether to just adhesive the 4 loose ones back down and re grout... or assume it will. happen to the whole floor and take it all up and put it back down? I'd rather Just do the 4 but then if the others all med doing these four will be immovable. What do you think? Looks as if only grout used to put them down. Thanks x

Not sure I understand the question (woman), but the tiles are slate looks like they have been laid on some other stone tiles, very level but cracked. Does that help?

The fact that 4 are loose makes it possible that others will come loose over time too. You could just stick the 4 back down and see if the fix lasts. If not, its likely the floor will have to be re-done at some point in time. There could be a dozen reasons why this has happened, maybe you should get a pro tiler in to have a look.

Substrate is the sub-floor, so you're right in thinking the tiles underneath are the substrate in your case.

Do the tiles that are cracked underneath look as if they're coming away from the floor below that? Can you tell at all?

No I don't think so, they are real thick heavyweight almost like paving stones.
