Hello again,
Please refer to my original post further down the thread list "Floor Tiling Shinanigans"
I posted a couple of days ago regarding a floor I will be tiling on top of existing ceramic tiles. The helpful guys on the forum suggested that I didn't need a slurry coat, just to clean the tiles thoroughly and use a half brick to score to surface.
I popped in to Topps Tiles today to collect my sundries and got chatting with one of the guys, they are real helpful there, and he looked shocked that I suggested I wouldnt use one. So in short I am a trifle confused. Should I, shouldnt I? And if i should what is the mix??
The other problem I mentioned was the leveling of the bathroom, the step was approx 12mm, so I have decided to use a cement board to bring the level up, 6mm with a bed of adhesive to secure, and that should leave enough room for the top bed and new floor tiles. thankfully the bathroom floor is a clean reasonably level concrete screed. Nice! but the fixing of this board is slightly confusing me, does it need to be plugged and screwed as well, (pictures himself face down on the floor "undulating" ) or will the adhesive be enough?
As it happens the trip up there to measure and look also turned into a splashback and half kitchen as well As well as supply of the tiles. The wolves with be at the end of the road this week, rather than kicking the door down!
Thanks in advance,
...and apologies for the long post. As a lone tiler you don't get that many peeps to chat to, and the radio isn't all that full of stimulating recriprical conversation!
