I can see his point.

I think he thinks there should be a prize for a 147 (and so do I), and to make a point that would get in the news (and encourage thought about giving a prize for it again) he thought he'd not bother. Though he did get 4k for it, for being the highest break. So I guess the prize used to be a lot more for a 147 or something?

There used to be a prize for a televised 147 back in the pot black days, I can't remember how much though.
