Sourcing Slate for worktops

Tilers Forums Official Sponsors

Hey guys,

really struggling to find worktops for my kitchen that I like and can afford....

cant seem to look past the slate for cost/durability

In my last flat that I rent out I fitted blue/grey riven slate and abused it to death in the way of chopping on it, red wine, hot pots whatever still comes up same as day fitted...see attached of modern kitchen.

Now though Im looking for something softer ideally more light grey (Ocean grey?) pastille like to tie in with my antique limestone floor and in the same riven form but just to buy rough cuts that I can template and polish and do the sink cut myself.

Do any of you lads have someone you use or can tell me where to go or order from as all local stone places have been rather unhelpful so far and the prices quoted for stuff that has been lying in their yard for years put me off even dealing with them again!
