Am I imagining it or did I see some time ago on here a special saw designed so you can cut the bottom off the door without removing it so that you can then tile underneath the door.

Assuming I did not imagine this can the same saw be used to cut the bottom off the skirtings so that I can slot the tiles underneath them.

yes there is such a tool but as TJ says you need to be careful of wires and pipes

I have one of those. Not too good for what your talking about. The cut isn't deep enough for doors and you can't get in to the hinge side of the doors. I've tried it a few time for skirting and it's really difficult (not impossible) to maintain a straight level cut especially over floorboards.

If at all possible I would remove the skirtings carefully and refit. Remember they willl go back on slightly higher than before hiding any damage where you've prised them off.

There is another machine for doors etc but its about £500

thanks sandy. Want to avoid at all costs removing the skirtings. Old victorian house. 10" skirtings into lime plaster. Been there before and just know I will end up having to replace them cos they never come off easily. Would be cheaper to buy a saw than replace the boards so that is the option I want to look at first.
