Spilt Face Mosaic Price.

Tilers Forums Official Sponsors

Ok, 1 day prep (no mention of a days sanding in first post Andy), 1 day to tile (even with a fire place to cut round) plus adhesive and 1lt Stain Stop.
Total £560

How can you possibly think of charging £40 to £50 m2 for some split face stone, they are not mosaics. No post fix cleaning, leaving to dry, coat of sealer, then grouting, cleaning, leaving to dry for a few days and final seal. Just fix and seal

Don't often disagree with what said on here, but this one of those occasions 🙂
Read my first post.......I said I will have to sand some paint off.......my price will be about £500 so your £60 more than me and if I do it in 3 days then I'm happy with my price. 🙂
I gave up rushing years ago....life's to short...

There is no way on earth I'd be able to fit 12 m of those in 1 day, 3 days is more than reasonable for the prep and tile, to make them look seamless takes a fair bit of faffing about. Ok I'm not the fastest out there but, 1 day seems to be pushing it a bit. Anyhow, £500 is more than fair IMO.

You're not disagreeing at £560 Julian are u?
Only in ur expected timescale.

Yes @3_fall, I disagree with how long it would take. I would expect to be home by 2 o'clock if I had 12 m2 of those to fix.

And the fact that £50 m2 could possibly be charged for split face stone. Fixing 20 m2 a day of these is no problem even with some mitred corners. I would happily do them day after day at that price. 😉

Well that's fine @JulianSidney , haha
I don't really see the issue, the fact of the matter is, even with your expected timescale, u've suggested £560, so I don't really see the need to be a bit animated!
We're all in and around the same ball park, are we not?
So does it matter? I figure not! 😉

We're not arguing, we're having a discussion :tearsofjoy: Try telling your wife to have a discussion, let us know how you get on
I did try that, she didn't talk to me for 3 days, it was bloody lovely. Now I do it every couple of weeks, the peace and quiet is Great. 😉

Ultimately if your happy with what you've made at the end of the job that's all that matters. However here's some food for thought......

600x150 = 11 tiles per m2
Based on 2 days that's 66 tiles per day.for a 12m2 job
Working for 8 hours a day that's 8.25 tiles fixed per hour
That's 7.27 minutes per tile.

Maybe I've just been lucky but every time I've fitted this type of tile they've flown up and 7 minutes to fix one tile is a bloody long time.
