Hi havent posted on her for a while. Im currently a labourer for small building company doing multi trade, but interested in doing tiling, im going to start a part time course in wall and floor tiling held at a localish college, and then would like to go on an intensive course after getting a bit of experiance from my college course. My goal is to start own company and work for myself. I was wondering what age you started your own company, working for your self. As im only 18 i dont think many people would trust an 18 year old to do work on there house etc.

Hi Mark, to be honest at your age I would be knocking on doors of companys asking if they needed an aprentice or trainee or even send a standard letter asking if they had any openings. Then go for it learn as much as you can and get some experiance behind you. Thats how I got my first job, but that was back in 1970, which makes me a bit of an old git:lol:

Thanks for advice, whitebeam i have tried sending letters and calling around but have had no luck, as im working as a labourer for a small building company we do a bit of tiling so learn a bit by watching my boss etc and get to help by doing a few simple cuts so its all experiance but dont get to muck in as much as i would like so looking forward to starting my college course in feb, plus currently doing a plastering course so that will help me in the future with my tiling as well.

Hi Mark, Well aleast your've tried, but its good you have college course. It's good to hear someone at your age who's keen I think your probably a rare breed nowa days. So onwards and upwards and enjoy your work:thumbsup:
