Ive read all comments here but no one has mentioned you can lay the bill off to a debt collection agency to collect the cash (baliff) you get paid but not the full amount and they chase him for the cash plus costs, about £80 for every visit, maybe just the threat of this will make him see sence. One other thing even if you had purchased the tiles they become the property of the house owner once they are on his land so not a good idea to start ripping up.

Agree with what you are saying mate but seems in this case there is no signed contract, meaning it is one persons word vs another, debt collection would not touch it.

Letter of Indication to pay in 14 days , or you will go to small claims court he will also incur all costs, then get a small claims file send it to him completed but dont yet file it with the courts at this stage they normally pay if not then file it and go through the correct way, get your money back the lawfull way !!!
then leave it a week or 2 and give him a good shoeing for your inconvenience ,im not promoting violence in any way shape or form but some people need to understand and sometimes its the only way !! People like this really get me going , been stung once and never again , court route worked although his mercedes didnt a couple of weeks later
