evenin all, just been to see a small job which consists of mosaic nat stone sheets 4 sq metres in total and stone 10 by 10 tiles that the customer would like on the floor,,floor is 2.5 sq metre,,she immediately stipulated that she EXPECTS a cheap price as they are a diy family but on this occasion want a trade in to do the job..tiles need cut round pan ,,round back of radiator and round sink as customer doesnt want to remove because of costs...what would you guys vharge for this one,,could kinda do with the job so not wantin to charge my normal prices which seem to terrify customers lol but also dont wanna be workin for diddly squit:thumbsup:

Did you ask her if she also wanted a cheap finish....

Sounds like she wants to make your job harder by having to cut round all the sanitary ware to make her price less, your also looking at laying 250 tiles, which will need sealing etc etc. I hate these type of customers, they want cheap materials, cheap tiles, want to skimp on prep, sealing etc and want you to also work for nothing.

I stick to my day rate and materials, unless they can supply suitable materials. Remember your reputation is only as good as your last job!!

day rate mate! if they are into diy try getting them to seal the tiles before you arrive!

aye agreed, dont mind lowering slightly to suit the market but not doin a cheepo job,,funny how she has shelled out on expensive stone tiles but wants them fitted for free eh.

Normal price.........take it or leave it.

People know that the building trade has taken a lot of punishment recently...........some, like this woman by the sounds of it, are trying to take the Pee.

You do it for her on the cheap..........then it'll be her friends & family :mad2::mad2:

normal day rate kilty, as other guys have said. They must know that they're out of their diy depth on this one! I'd also try and persuade them to remove sanny ware first too, saying something along the lines of "if you change your basin/wc in future, you probably won't get another with the same footprint so the cut out will look odd, blah, blah blah!"
